Every great idea starts with a problem.

For Ibrahim Sobur Bamidele, popularly known as Bamietech, that problem was something almost every university student can relate to—getting lost on campus.

Now a 300-level Software Engineering student at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Ibrahim transformed that personal experience into MyNavio, a campus navigation application designed to help students find their way around the university more easily while staying organized throughout their academic journey.

His story is a reminder that some of the most meaningful innovations come from everyday challenges.

From Freshman Struggles to Building a Solution

Starting university is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming.

For Ibrahim, adjusting to life at FUD wasn’t always easy. Like many first-year students, he found himself wandering around campus trying to locate lecture halls, administrative offices, and other important places. There were times he arrived late because he couldn’t find the right venue, and staying on top of lecture materials wasn’t always straightforward either.

Rather than accepting these challenges as part of university life, he began asking himself a simple question:

“What if there was an easier way?”

That question eventually became the foundation for MyNavio.

Known by many as Bamietech, he believes software should do more than demonstrate technical skills—it should improve people’s everyday lives.

“My passion has always been creating solutions that make life simpler,” he shared during an interview with the Federal University Dutse Weekly Newsletter.

That mindset continues to shape the projects he builds.

    What Is MyNavio?

MyNavio is a campus navigation application developed specifically to make life easier for students at the Federal University Dutse.

The app is designed to help students:

    • Navigate the university campus with confidence.
    • Find lecture halls and important campus locations.
    • Reduce the stress of getting lost, especially during the first few weeks of school.
    • Stay better organized throughout their academic activities.

Although it began as a personal project inspired by Ibrahim’s own experience, MyNavio has the potential to improve the campus experience for thousands of students.

Building Software That Solves Real Problems

Many software projects begin as classroom assignments.

    MyNavio is different.

It was inspired by a real challenge experienced by the person building it.

Instead of creating an application simply to showcase his programming skills, Ibrahim focused on solving a problem that affects students every academic session.

It’s an example of how technology becomes more valuable when it starts with empathy—understanding people’s frustrations and designing solutions around them.

    Looking Ahead

For Ibrahim, MyNavio is only the beginning.

He hopes to continue improving the application by introducing more features and expanding its capabilities so that even more students can benefit from it in the future.

As the platform evolves, his vision remains the same: using technology to make campus life easier and more connected.

    Why Stories Like This Matter

Student innovation often goes unnoticed, yet it plays an important role in shaping the future of education and technology.

Projects like MyNavio show that impactful ideas don’t always come from large companies or funded startups. Sometimes, they begin in a lecture hall, a hostel room, or from the daily experiences of students who simply want to solve a problem.

Ibrahim Bamidele’s journey is an inspiring example of how curiosity, determination, and technical skills can come together to create something that benefits an entire community.

    Final Thoughts

Every innovation begins with someone noticing a problem and deciding to do something about it.

For Ibrahim Bamidele, getting lost on campus became the inspiration behind MyNavio—a solution built not just for himself, but for fellow students navigating university life.

As he continues to grow as a software engineer, his journey serves as an encouragement to other young developers: your next big idea might be hiding in the challenges you face every day.
