A Quick Word About Federal University Dutse (FUD)
Federal University Dutse is a federal government university located in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State. It was established in 2011 and has grown into one of the recognised federal universities in North-West Nigeria.
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Medicine and Surgery, Agriculture, Science, Engineering, and Humanities, many of which are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). FUD has also received notable research grants, including a N200 million grant for alternative energy research.
If you applied to FUD this session, you applied to a proper federal university. That is worth knowing.
How FUD Releases Its Admission List
Before you start checking, there is something important you should know. FUD does not release all admissions at once. The university releases its admission list in batches, usually up to four batches, depending on JAMB’s admission process and the number of available spaces.
The first batch covers the majority of admitted candidates. If your name is not on it, don’t panic.
FUD will release subsequent batches, and candidates who scored within range can still appear later. All admissions are processed through JAMB’s Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) first, so your status will show on JAMB before it reflects on the FUD portal.
Two Ways to Check Your FUD Admission Status
There are two official ways to check if your name is on the FUD admission list for 2025/2026:
- Via the JAMB CAPS Portal (check here first, always)
- Via the FUD Official Admission Portal
Let’s go through both.
Method 1: How to Check on the JAMB CAPS Portal
This is the primary place to check. All university admissions in Nigeria go through JAMB CAPS, so your status will appear here before anywhere else.
Follow these simple steps:
- Open your browser and visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng/Efacility
- Log in with your JAMB registered email address and password
- On your dashboard, scroll down and click the “Check Admission Status” tab
- Select your examination year when prompted
- Enter your JAMB Registration Number if required
- Click “Check Admission Status” to see your result
If you are using a mobile phone, make sure to enable Desktop Site on your browser before logging in. On Chrome, tap the three dots at the top right corner and select “Desktop Site.” This makes the CAPS page load properly so you can access all options.
After checking, you can also click “Access My CAPS” to see fuller details about the course and institution you have been admitted into.
Method 2: How to Check on the FUD Portal
Once FUD uploads the admission list to their official portal, you can verify your status there as well. Here is how to do it:
- Visit https://myportal.fud.edu.ng or https://putme.fud.edu.ng/auth/
- Log in using your JAMB Registration Number as your username
- Enter your State of Origin as your password
- Navigate to the “Admission Status” tab
- Check to confirm if you have been offered admission
If you see that you have been admitted, you can generate an invoice for the acceptance fee and print your admission letter from the same portal.

What Each Admission Status Message Means
When you check your status, you will see one of three possible messages. Here is what each one means:
“Congratulations!” or “Admitted” This is what you have been waiting for. You have been offered provisional admission into Federal University Dutse. Go ahead and accept the admission on JAMB CAPS, then follow the steps below.
“Admission in Progress” or “Check Back Later” Your admission is still being processed. This does not mean you have been denied. JAMB and FUD are still finalising your status. Check back after a few days.
“Not Admitted” or “Sorry, you have not been given admission yet” Do not lose hope if you see this. FUD releases admission in batches, so candidates who see this message may still appear in the second, third, or fourth batch. Keep checking regularly, especially after JAMB announces new batches.
What to Do After Your Name Appears on the List
If you have confirmed your admission, complete these steps promptly and in the right order:
Step 1: Accept Your Admission on JAMB CAPS Log in to the JAMB e-Facility portal and formally accept your admission offer through CAPS. Your admission is not considered confirmed until you do this on JAMB. Do not skip this step.
Step 2: Print Your JAMB Admission Letter Print your official JAMB admission letter from your profile. You will need this at every stage of your clearance and registration.
Step 3: Pay the FUD Acceptance Fee Log in to the FUD portal at myportal.fud.edu.ng and generate an invoice for the acceptance fee. Based on the 2024/2025 session, FUD charged N2,000 as a non-refundable acceptance and registration fee. The fee for 2025/2026 will be confirmed once the admission list is officially released, so check the portal for the current figure. Pay via Remita or FUD’s designated bank and keep your receipt.
Step 4: Print Your FUD Admission Letter After paying, print your official FUD admission letter from the university portal. This is different from your JAMB letter. You need both.
Step 5: Gather Your Documents for Clearance Before registration begins, get the following original credentials ready:
- WAEC or NECO O’Level result(s)
- A’Level result (for Direct Entry candidates)
- JAMB result slip
- JAMB admission letter
- FUD admission letter
- Evidence of acceptance fee payment
- Birth certificate or statutory declaration of age
- Local Government Area (LGA) certificate of origin
Step 6: Report to Your Department for Clearance Take all your original documents to your faculty and department for verification and clearance. This step must be completed before you can proceed with online registration.
Step 7: Complete Online Registration and Pay School Fees After departmental clearance, log in to the FUD student portal to complete your online registration and pay your school fees for the session.
Something Most People Don’t Tell You
The admission list is provisional. Seeing “Congratulations” on JAMB CAPS is great news, but it does not mean your place is secured automatically. FUD can withdraw an admission if you fail to accept it on JAMB, do not pay the acceptance fee on time, or if your documents raise issues during clearance.
So once your name is on the list, move fast. Don’t sit back and celebrate without acting. Complete every step while spaces are still open.
Also, if your JAMB score was close to the cut-off and you don’t see your name in the first batch, keep checking. FUD fills remaining spaces in later batches. Check your status every few days rather than waiting for someone to notify you.
