    Quick overview: TSU Post-UTME 2026/2027

Here’s what you need to know at a glance:

    • Institution: Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo
    • Session: 2026/2027 academic session
    • General UTME cut-off mark: 150 (some courses require more)
    • Screening opens: Friday, 24 July 2026
    • Screening closes: Wednesday, 23 September 2026
    • Application fee: ₦2,000
    • Application portal: apply.tsuniversity.edu.ng

Now let’s go through everything in detail.

Who is eligible for the TSU Post-UTME screening?

Not every candidate who sat for JAMB this year can apply. TSU has laid out clear requirements for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates.

If you’re a UTME candidate, you must:

    • Have selected Taraba State University, Jalingo as your first-choice institution during the 2026 UTME registration.
    • Have scored at least 150 in the 2026 UTME. This is the general cut-off, but some courses ask for more, so check the course-specific marks below before you assume you’re qualified.
    • Have at least five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

If you’re a Direct Entry (DE) candidate, you must have:

    • A minimum of Lower Credit in National Diploma (ND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), IJMB, or any other recognised equivalent qualification.
    • Five relevant O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

If you don’t meet these requirements, applying may only waste your ₦2,000, since the screening is designed to filter out candidates who don’t meet the baseline first.

    TSU course-specific cut-off marks for 2026/2027

Here’s something a lot of students miss: the 150 cut-off is only the general minimum. Some courses at TSU actually require a higher UTME score. Below is a breakdown by score band.

150 and above covers most Arts, Education, Agriculture, Science and Social Science programmes, including Software Engineering, Data Science, Information and Communication Technology, Biochemistry, Mathematics, and Sociology, among others.

160 and above applies to Environmental Health Science, Public Administration, Microbiology, and Political Science and International Relations.

170 and above applies to Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Accounting, and Business Administration.

180 and above applies to Mass Communication, Computer Science, and Public Health.

210 and above applies to Nursing Science.

230 and above applies to Law.

If your course isn’t mentioned here, don’t panic. Confirm your department’s exact requirement on the official TSU admission portal before you pay, since departmental cut-off marks can be adjusted.

Documents you’ll need before you start

Have these ready before you begin your application, so you’re not scrambling halfway through the form:

    • JAMB registration number and result slip
    • O’Level results (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB), or your JAMB profile with results uploaded on CAPS
    • A recent passport photograph
    • A valid email address and active phone number
    • An ATM card (MasterCard, Visa, or Verve) for payment

How to apply for the TSU Post-UTME/DE form

Follow these steps carefully. One wrong entry, especially with your JAMB details, can cause problems later when your results are verified.

    1. Visit the official portal. Go to apply.tsuniversity.edu.ng and click on “Register.”
    2. Create your account. Use a username, password, valid email address, and phone number you can access easily, since updates will be sent there.
    3. Make payment. Select the payment option and pay the ₦2,000 screening fee using your card.
    4. Complete your bio-data. Once payment reflects, log back in and fill in your personal information, schools attended, O’Level results, and JAMB details.
    5. Upload your documents. Attach your passport photograph and O’Level result, along with your JAMB PIN.
    6. Review before submitting. Check every field carefully. TSU verifies results online, so any mismatch between what you entered and your official record could get your application nullified.
    7. Submit and print. Tick the certification box, click “Submit Application,” then print your application slip and acknowledgement slip. Keep both safe.

Don’t lose your username and password. You’ll need them to log back in and check your admission status later.

Real talk: don’t wait until the last week

Every admission cycle, a large number of candidates rush to apply in the final days before closing, and the portal tends to slow down under that traffic. If your payment fails or your document upload doesn’t go through on 22 September, you may not get a second chance before the 23 September deadline. Apply early, confirm your slip printed correctly, and keep a screenshot of your payment as backup.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I apply if I didn’t choose TSU as my first choice? Generally, no. TSU’s screening is open to candidates who selected the university as their first-choice institution during UTME registration. If TSU wasn’t your first choice, you’d typically need to do a change of institution on the JAMB portal first, where eligible.

What happens if my JAMB score is below 150? You won’t meet the general eligibility requirement, so it’s unlikely your application will be considered. Confirm your score against the specific cut-off for your intended course before applying.

Is the ₦2,000 fee refundable if I’m not offered admission? No. TSU states clearly that the screening fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome.

Can Direct Entry candidates and UTME candidates use the same portal? Yes, both categories apply through apply.tsuniversity.edu.ng, but each follows the specific eligibility requirements listed above for their category.

Where can I check the full departmental cut-off mark list? The safest place is the official TSU admission portal itself. Third-party sites sometimes carry outdated figures, so always cross-check before making decisions based on your score.

    What to do next

You now know the cut-off mark, the fee, the deadline, and exactly how to apply. If you meet the requirements, don’t sit on this. Gather your documents, head to the portal, and complete your registration well before 23 September 2026. If your score falls short of your department’s requirement, it’s worth checking whether a different TSU course within your reach might still be a good fit for you.
