OGITECH gets NBTE approval for five new programmes: what prospective students should know

If you’ve been eyeing OGITECH for the 2026/2027 academic session, there’s good news that widens your options. The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has just received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to begin five new academic programmes. That means more courses to choose from, and more chances of getting in if your first choice wasn’t available before.

In this post, you’ll learn exactly which programmes were approved, who is eligible to apply, and how to complete your registration.

    What happened

The approval followed a quality-assurance visitation by the NBTE, held between Monday, 20 July, and Wednesday, 22 July 2026. The Rector of the Institute, Dr Abiodun Oluseye, announced the outcome on Thursday, 30 July 2026, during an executive management meeting at the Rector’s office.

With this approval, OGITECH now offers the following newly accredited programmes:

    • ND Mechatronics
    • ND Crime Management
    • ND Office Technology and Management
    • HND Civil Engineering
    • HND Electrical/Electronics Engineering (Power and Machine Option)

That’s a good spread — three at National Diploma (ND) level and two at Higher National Diploma (HND) level, covering engineering, technical, and management-related fields.

Why this matters if you’re applying

If you scored below the cut-off for your original course, or if OGITECH wasn’t offering the programme you wanted before now, this is worth a second look. NBTE approval means these programmes are officially recognised, and OGITECH is currently receiving applications for them as part of admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

    Who can apply

    For ND programmes:

    • You must have scored at least 120 in the 2026 UTME.
    • You need a minimum of 5 credit passes in your SSCE (WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB), including Mathematics and English Language, in subjects relevant to your chosen course.

    For HND programmes:

    • National Diploma graduates from OGITECH or any other recognised institution are eligible to apply.

Since HND entry requirements (like CGPA and IT experience) can vary slightly by course and institution policy, it’s worth confirming your specific eligibility on the official portal before you begin your application.

    How to register

Interested candidates should complete their registration through the official OGITECH portal:

    👉 my.ogitech.edu.ng

Have your UTME details, O’Level results, and (for HND applicants) your ND certificate or statement of result ready before you start, so the process goes smoothly.

    A quick note on accuracy

Admission requirements and application details can be updated by the institution at any time, especially during an active admission cycle. Before you submit your application or make any payment, confirm the current requirements, deadlines, and course-specific cut-off marks directly on the official OGITECH portal.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for the new ND programmes if I didn’t choose OGITECH as my first JAMB choice? Many polytechnics accept change of institution or change of course requests through JAMB. Check the official portal or JAMB’s CAPS for the current process on this.

Is HND admission open to ND holders from other polytechnics, not just OGITECH? Yes. National Diploma graduates from other recognised institutions are fully eligible to apply for the newly approved HND programmes.

Will these new programmes have the same fees as existing courses? Fee structures aren’t always identical across programmes. Confirm the exact fees for your specific course on the official portal before proceeding.

What if I don’t meet the minimum UTME score of 120? The 120 mark is the stated minimum for the new ND programmes. If your score is below this, it’s best to explore other available options directly with the admissions office.

    Final thoughts

Five new programmes means five new chances to find the right fit at OGITECH, whether you’re coming in fresh with your UTME result or moving up from ND to HND. Take the time to check your eligibility properly, gather your documents early, and register through the official portal before the window closes.

If you have any questions or need clarification about OGITECH’s new programmes or the application process, kindly drop them in the comment section below — we’ll be glad to help.
