OAU admission list for 2026/2027: how to check on JAMB CAPS
Have you been refreshing your JAMB profile every morning, wondering whether Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has finally released the admission list? If yes, this post is just for you.
The waiting is stressful. You wrote UTME, registered for the Post-UTME screening, sat the exercise, and now your whole plan depends on one status message. In this guide, you’ll learn where the OAU 2026/2027 list is currently being shown, how to check your status step by step, what each JAMB CAPS message means, and what to do if you see “Admission Offered”.
Important: This guide reflects reports available as of 18 October 2026. We could not find an official OAU notice on the admission list at the time of writing, so please confirm your status directly on JAMB CAPS and the OAU admission portal. Admission lists are released in batches, so what you see today may change.
Is the OAU admission list out?
Reports indicate that OAU has started releasing its 2026/2027 admission list on JAMB CAPS (the Central Admissions Processing System). The same reports say the list is not yet showing on OAU’s own admission portal.
That means, for now, your result is most likely to appear on your JAMB profile first. Don’t worry if the OAU portal shows nothing yet. It doesn’t mean you weren’t considered.
Who this guide is for
This guide is for you if:
- You chose OAU as your first choice institution in the 2026 UTME.
- You took part in the OAU Post-UTME or Direct Entry screening exercise.
- You want to know whether admission has been offered, and what to do next.
If you haven’t done the screening, check OAU’s admission portal and official notices to see whether any further exercise applies to you.
How to check the OAU admission list on JAMB CAPS
Follow these simple steps:
- Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal at efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
- Log in with your JAMB email address (or username) and password.
- Scroll down and click Check Admission Status.
- Click Access my CAPS.
- Select Admission Status to see whether you have been offered admission.
Make sure you are on the official JAMB website before typing your password. Fake lookalike sites exist, and you don’t want to hand over your login details.
If CAPS only shows a welcome message
Some candidates using a phone see only a welcome message instead of the full page. That doesn’t mean there’s a problem with your profile. Switch your browser to desktop mode (in Chrome, open the menu and tap Request desktop site), then go back to Admission Status.
What the JAMB CAPS messages mean
You may see any of these messages. They look similar, but they mean different things.
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Admission Offered | JAMB has approved your admission. | You can now accept or reject the offer. |
| Admission in Progress (AIP) | The university has recommended you. Approval by the school’s head and a final JAMB review are still pending. | Keep checking. Don’t pay for anything yet. |
| Recommended | The university has considered you, and JAMB is still reviewing. | Wait for the status to change. |
| Pending | Your application is still under review. | Check again in a few days. |
| Not Admitted | No offer at this stage. It may mean a decision hasn’t been released yet. | Don’t give up yet. Keep checking as new batches come out. |
It’s important to note that only “Admission Offered” gives you the option to accept or reject. If you see any other message, the Accept button won’t do anything for you.
What to do if you see “Admission Offered”
Congratulations! Getting to this stage is not easy. You’ve gone through UTME, the Post-UTME screening, and weeks of waiting. Now here’s what to do.
1. Decide whether to accept
Accepting is a serious decision. Once you accept, JAMB treats your admission as settled, and other institutions can no longer consider you for that cycle. Rejecting keeps the door open for another offer, but you also give up this one.
If OAU and your course are what you wanted, accept. If you’re hoping for a different school or course, think carefully before you do anything.
2. Accept or reject on JAMB
You can respond in either of these ways:
- Biometric verification: Visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre.
- SMS: Send ACCEPT or REJECT to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number registered with JAMB.
JAMB sets the window for responding to an offer, so check the deadline shown on your CAPS page and act within it. If you wait too long, your admission could be withdrawn.
3. Print your JAMB admission letter
After you accept, log back into CAPS and print your JAMB admission letter. It only becomes available after acceptance. Save the PDF and keep a few printed copies, because you’ll need them for clearance and registration at OAU.
4. Watch OAU’s official channels for clearance details
Acceptance on JAMB is only one part of the process. OAU will also publish its own instructions for fees, document clearance and registration. Since fees and deadlines change from year to year, get them from OAU’s admission portal and official notices, not from social media posts or WhatsApp groups.
How to check the OAU admission portal
When OAU makes the list available on its own portal, you should be able to check it this way:
- Visit the OAU admission portal at eportal2.oauife.edu.ng.
- Enter your JAMB registration number and password.
- Click Login to view your admission status.
Until then, JAMB CAPS is the place to check.
What nobody tells you about admission lists
A lot of candidates panic when their status says “Not Admitted” while a friend’s already says “Admission Offered”. Here’s what that usually means: admissions are released in batches, and CAPS can lag behind what the school has sent. A friend’s status appearing first doesn’t mean yours won’t.
One more thing. Please don’t pay anyone who promises to “secure” or “push” your admission. OAU has stated in its admission notices that it does not endorse admission agents. If someone claims they can get your name on the list for a fee, walk away.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I find my name on the OAU website?
Reports say the list is currently on JAMB CAPS only. OAU may add it to its own portal later.
My CAPS says “Not Admitted”. Is that final?
Not necessarily. It can mean a decision hasn’t been released yet or your application is still under review. Check again as new batches are released.
Can I accept my admission after the deadline?
JAMB sets the response window, and offers can be withdrawn after it closes. Don’t wait. If you have a problem accessing your profile, contact JAMB or visit an accredited CBT centre as early as possible.
Do I have to print the JAMB admission letter?
Yes. You’ll need it for clearance and registration, and later for processes such as NYSC. Print it after you accept.
Can I check admission without the internet?
You can respond to an offer by SMS, but checking your full status is best done on CAPS. If you have a data problem, visit an accredited CBT centre for help.
What to do next
Log in to JAMB CAPS today and check your status. If it says “Admission Offered”, decide, accept within the window, and print your admission letter. If it says anything else, keep checking every few days and watch OAU’s official channels for updates.
